Webinar Synopsis: Mary Dwulit, CTRS shares her perceptions as a recent graduate on therapeutic recreation and incorporates findings from her recent publication in the Therapeutic Recreation Journal, “Student Perceptions of Therapeutic Recreation: An Exploratory Study”. Topics covered will include Professional Titles, Advocacy, Certification and Professional Standards of Practice.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to describe three pathways to certification                        
  2. Participants will be able to name three ways to advocate for TR in their workplace
  3. Participants will be able to identify why research is important for the TR profession

Speaker Bio: Mary Dwulit graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Therapeutic Recreation program at Douglas College in June 2017 and became a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) in November 2017. Currently Mary works as a Recreation and Volunteer Coordinator at the Residences for Independent Living Society in False Creek and Steveston, BC. Mary also sits on the board of directors for Vancouver Power Soccer and is an active BCTRA member. Mary is passionate about community inclusion, research and advocating for the therapeutic recreation profession.
