Trauma & Resiliency Informed Practice for MHSU Services Administration and Support Staff

A trauma and resiliency informed framework involves all employees, volunteers and peers working together to create safe, welcoming and effective service experiences. This 1/2 day workshop is intended for administrative and support staff who work in Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Services and could include receptionists, office coordinators, administrative staff, medical office assistants, housekeeping, food services and maintenance staff. This workshop is intended to support participants to:

  1. utilize the knowledge of the types and effects of trauma to articulate the benefits of trauma & resiliency informed services;
  2. use a trauma and resiliency informed lens to reframe challenging situations and behaviours as adaptive responses to trauma;
  3. apply the principles of trauma & resiliency informed practice to enhance client safety and recovery while minimizing re-traumatization;
  4. explore your own response to better understand your adaptations to trauma exposure and learn new ways to adapt to distress
