Serena Frew, President

I started my professional journey in 2006 when I graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor in Therapeutic and Inclusive Recreation. Upon completion of my thesis “The experience of Certification in Canada”, I decided to pursue certification and headed to Seattle Washington for an internship on the Spinal Cord Injury Program at Puget Sound Health Care. With a love for the mountains and the ocean, it was an easy decision to make the west coast my new home. I had arrived in BC for no longer than a couple of hours when I accepted the position of Advocacy & Liaison Director for the BCTRA. I enjoyed a challenging and dynamic two -year term, and after the success of the steering committee, I was inspired to accept the role of BCTRA president.

My passion is rehabilitation; I am fortunate to work on two amazing clinical teams, one at GF Strong Rehab Centre on the Neuromuscular Skeletal (NMS) Outpatient Team and the other on the Rehab & Resource Team for Vancouver Community. Both jobs are fast paced, challenging, innovative and rewarding. I am looking forward to continue seeing our profession grow and prosper. For fun I enjoy the outdoors: skiing powder, paddling big waves, playing beach volleyball, and sharing outdoor adventures with friends.
