Sarah Rosenthal - Student Liaison

I am a student of Douglas College's Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation program – working towards graduation with a bachelor's degree in 2011. With the completion of my degree I plan to be certified. Previously working with various client groups in other roles, I was drawn to the field of Therapeutic Recreation by my passion for working in the human services field and the potential and power that recreation therapy holds for improving the lives of individuals.

Up to now my practical experience in the field of Therapeutic Recreation has been limited to the older adult population, although I have yet to decide on a focus area. Professionals in the field are doing such great things that it's hard to decide on just one area!

In the little time I have left between work and school I am a lover of the BC outdoors, cuddly animals, cooking yummy meals and expressing my “crafty” side through arts and crafts endeavours.

As the student liaison I look forward to introducing Therapeutic Recreation students to the organization, recruiting new student members and promoting pride and excitement for the organization within the Therapeutic Recreation student population. I am a strong believer in the unity and professional benefits that the organization can provide and intend to promote these beliefs among the student population throughout my time in this position.

I look forward to contributing to the growth of the organization while also growing as a professional through the student liaison position.
