10 Tips for Successful Recreation Inclusion
Webinar Synopsis: Based on years of research, the top 10 tips for increasing inclusivity and usability at a recreation agency will be explored. From communication to universal design to providing supports and accommodations, this session will provide you with user-friendly checklists to help you put best practices in inclusive recreation to work at your agency and with your participants and community.

Learning Objectives: 1. Be able to identify 10 ways to increase the usability and accessibility of recreation amenities 2. Identify 3 ways they can put best practices to work at their agencies to increase inclusion 3. Understand the work of the IRRC and ways it can contribute to that work through assessments, training, or technical assistance.

Presenter: Dr. Lynn Anderson, CTRS, CPRP

Lynn Anderson is a Distinguished Service Professor in the Recreation, Parks and Leisure Studies Department at State University of New York at Cortland, and director for the Inclusive Recreation Resource Center.  She is an active teacher and scholar in therapeutic recreation, inclusion, and outdoor recreation, and has won numerous teaching, service, and research awards.  She serves as associate editor or reviewer for several journals and has written two popular textbooks. Dr. Anderson has particular research interests in inclusion, accessibility and the strengths approach. She received her M.S. from the University of Oregon and her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
