The British Columbia Therapeutic Recreation Association
is a Provincial body representing Therapeutic Recreation Professionals.
It is committed to meeting the needs of its members and ensuring a
progressive, quality service in community and health care settings.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
Fee $160.00. (Fee for an applicant who is a CTRA member is $135.00)
Fee $80.00 for first year professional members who were student members
in the previous year. Open to individuals with a Degree
or Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreation/Leisure Services.
Degree or Diploma must include 3 critical Therapeutic Recreation courses
(Foundations of TR, Clinical Practice, Program Planning/Design in TR,
Disabling Conditions, Modalities & Facilitation, Techniques in TR,
Administration, Research and Evaluation); 3 recommended courses (
Leisure Education/Counselling, Issues and Trends in TR, Computer
Technology in TR, Specific Disability courses, and Senior Seminar); and
6 specialty courses (examples include Outdoor and Adventure programming,
Community/inclusive Recreation for Special populations, Use of
Technology and Adaptive Equipment in TR, TR and the schools, Adapted
Aquatics, Adapted Sports and Game, Pediatrics, Gerontology). ON-GOING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IS A REQUIREMENT OF
MEMBERSHIP Professional members are required to
complete 24 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) within a 2 year period
beginning October 1st to maintain status. If a member allows
their membership to lapse more than two years, they must reapply as a
new member. This means submitting a copy of their diploma or degree as
well as a current resume.
SUPPORTING MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
Fee $60.00 Applicant is an individual who is
interested in furthering the objectives of BCTRA and the Therapeutic
Recreation profession, but who is ineligible to be a Professional, or
Student member. An individual who is eligible to be a professional
member but has retired from the Therapeutic Recreation profession, or
has moved from the province of B.C.
STUDENT MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
Fee $20.00
Student membership is open to individuals pursuing a
Degree or Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreation/Leisure Services

Part-time Student status. Registration in a minimum of
two (2) courses per term is required. Proof of registration required.

Full-time Student status. Registration with a total of
nine (9) credits in one semester at one institution. Proof required.
MEMBERSHIP IN BCTRA IS VALID FROM October 1st to
September 30th. Retain your receipt for tax deduction. Mail the
