Robin Harris, Dir. of Communication
I have always been a highly active person, as I grew up singing and dancing every day. If I wasn’t in school then I was at the studio and I loved it! Dance taught me so many life skills in a fun environment. But, I have also always valued the importance of having a good education. As I grew up I knew I wanted to obtain a degree and have a steady, reliable career.
So, when I discovered Therapeutic Recreation, I knew it was the career for me. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Douglas College in the sping of 2010. As a Recreation Therapist I have the ability to touch many lives in a positive way. I get to help others utilize leisure and recreation experiences to increase their wellness and quality of life. I love that I get to help people on their life journey and watch them grow. I believe that we all have something special to offer and that we can all learn something from each other. I hope that I am able to make a difference in people’s lives just as many have to mine.
I wanted to join the BCTRA’s board of Director’s as I feel that the more Recreation Therapists that get involved the stronger both our organization and field will become.
When I am not at work, I love to spend time with family and friends. I have a wonderful dog and cat which give me much joy. If I am not at home then you can bet you’ll find me at the cabin enjoying the great outdoors!
